Morocco Tattoo Case Appeal: Trial for Alleged Rape and Trafficking Delayed

The appeal trial in the Khadija or "the girl with the tattoo" case has been postponed to December 24. The 12 accused, charged with "human trafficking", "rape" and "kidnapping and sequestration" will finally be informed of their fate.

This decision comes following a request from the victim’s defense, reports Alyaoum24. Khadija has requested this permission to continue her medical sessions in order to remove the tattoos from her entire body. According to her, she has already removed the tattoo scratched on her neck with the name "Azzeddine".

This new postponement has provoked the anger and protests of the relatives of the accused. The families of the accused reproach the court for continuously postponing this case for nearly a year, specifies the same media.

In August 2018, Khadija, a 17-year-old girl, had been kidnapped, sequestered and raped for two months by young people from her village of Oulad Ayad, near Beni Mellal.

In a video that went viral, she showed her injuries, her sometimes obscene tattoos and her cigarette burns on a large part of her body. The case had made headlines in the national and international media.
