Morocco’s Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima Region to Build 20 New Schools in 2020
20 new schools will be built in 2020, for an amount of around 157.32 million dirhams (MDH). This is a forecast from the action plan of the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF) of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima.
This project includes the construction of one autonomous school, 9 community schools, 7 non-boarding middle schools, 2 non-boarding high schools, one high school with boarding, and 2 boarding facilities. The 2020 action plan of the AREF also includes the creation and equipment of 434 preschool classrooms for a budget of 124 MDH. It also includes a budget of 43 MDH for the construction of 178 classrooms, said Mohammed Aouaj, the director of the AREF, during a press conference.
He also explained that the 2020 action plan provides for the replacement of 537 prefabricated classrooms thanks to a budget of 103.67 MDH. As for the other rehabilitation projects within the school establishments of the region in 2020, they will cover a total of 712 interventions, requiring a budgetary envelope estimated at 114 MDH, reports the Map.
Speaking about the 2019 budget, the director of the AREF said that the assessment was "very positive". 39 new establishments have opened, including 25 schools, all cycles combined, and 14 boarding facilities, the same source specifies.
