Morocco in Talks to Rejoin Eurovision Song Contest After 44-Year Absence

Morocco is expected to join the Eurovision Song Contest in the coming days. Negotiations are underway with television channels in the region.
In a statement, the director of this artistic competition said that discussions have been held with Morocco. According to Jon Ola Sand, the participation of North African and Middle Eastern countries, such as Jordan, Algeria and Lebanon, would make the contest more diverse.
Morocco’s only participation in the Eurovision Song Contest dates back to 1980, reports escxtra.com. At the time, the Kingdom was represented by Samira Said, with the only song presented at the contest in the Arabic language "Bitaqat Houb" (Love Card), ranked 18th and second to last.
The same source specifies that Morocco was also the first African and Arab country to participate in this competition.
