Morocco Suspends Print Newspapers Amid Coronavirus Emergency

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports suspends from this Sunday, March 22, 2020 until further notice, the various printed publications of Morocco in magazine, tabloid formats, etc.
According to a statement from the supervisory ministry, this decision comes within the framework of the state of health emergency in force in the Kingdom of Morocco and the implementation of the measures taken to fight against the spread of the coronavirus.
"In consideration of the important and vital roles played by the national press, the ministry urges all the press institutions concerned to continue to provide content through alternative means and to contribute, with all the national media, to the efforts of informing and raising awareness among citizens," specifies the statement from the department of Hassan Abyaba, government spokesperson.
In Morocco, the majority of publications having their own website(s), a complete reorientation of the teams towards this mode of journalistic communication will not be difficult to implement, it is estimated.
