Morocco Suspends Hunting Company After Mass Turtledove Slaughter Near Marrakech
The accreditation of the tourism company that organized the hunting party that led to the slaughter of a large number of turtledoves has been suspended by the Department of Water and Forests. In addition to this sanction, it will also be prosecuted in court.
A few days ago, an ecological massacre had been recorded on turtledoves in the Marrakech-Safi region. It was the work of a group of foreign hunters. The video of the carnage had been widely shared on social networks. And the calls for sanctions from Internet users, as well as those from the National Association of Hunting and Sustainable Development, have finally been heard.
The first to suffer the wrath of the authorities is the hunting company that authorized this slaughter. The investigation by the Department of Water and Forests made it possible to determine an overhunting of three times the regulatory quota, stressing that the company did not know how to supervise the hunting activity. For the Department of Water and Forests, the structure specialized in hunting fully assumes responsibility for the acts committed by its clients.
To this end, the Department of Water and Forests has taken all the regulatory measures and has proceeded to suspend the tourist hunting accreditation of the company in question, which will also be subject to legal proceedings.
