Sefrou Residents Protest Unregulated Hunting Permits on Private Land

The inhabitants of the Séfrou region are unhappy with the Regional Director of Water and Forests. They blame him for having anarchically granted hunting permits to hunters who carry out their activity on private land.
The inhabitants of the localities of Aghzlan, Aderj and Dar Al Hamra first organized, on Wednesday, October 2, a protest march to express their exasperation, reports the newspaper Al Massae.
According to the same source, this march quickly turned into a sit-in in front of the Regional Directorate of Water and Forests, where the protesters denounced the policy of granting hunting permits implemented by the Regional Directorate of Water and Forests.
According to the protesters, this policy is focused on granting permits and authorizations to hunting associations, which practice this activity on private land, without consent. They also demanded the departure of the current Regional Director of Water and Forests.
The most shocking case that the protesters mentioned concerns the authorization granted to a local hunting association. It has stormed the land of a private individual, reserved for agriculture, to make it a club.
Subsequently, a meeting brought together the protesters, the Pasha of Sefrou, the President of the El Menzel District, the Caïd of Aghzlan and a representative of the Prefecture. On this occasion, the protesters demanded the ban on hunting and the outright cancellation of all authorizations.
