Morocco-Spain Trade Ties Soar with 260 Weekly Flights, 60 Daily Sea Links

Trade relations between Morocco and Spain have exploded in 2024, said Friday Karima Benyaich, the Moroccan ambassador to Spain, stating that more than 260 weekly flights and 60 daily maritime links serve the two countries.
Morocco is Spain’s third commercial partner outside the EU after the United States and the United Kingdom, and hosts nearly 1,000 Spanish companies, Benyaich said, during a conference on the theme: "Morocco-Spain Relations: Historical Keys and Current Challenges", held Friday in Madrid, specifying that these Spanish companies have made investments of 2 billion euros and created nearly 20,000 jobs in strategic sectors of the kingdom.
Similarly, Moroccan companies, such as OCP, are strengthening their investments in Spain, contributing to the mutual prosperity of the two countries, added the Moroccan ambassador to Madrid, who highlighted the explosion of trade between Morocco and Spain in 2024, with more than 260 weekly flights, 60 daily maritime links and a record 3 million Spanish visitors, an increase of 16% compared to 2023. Figures that position Spain as the second largest source market of tourists to Morocco.
In terms of university cooperation, "nearly 12,000 Moroccan students are pursuing their studies in Spain, representing 10% of foreign students in the Iberian country," Benyaich also said, hailing the growing complementarity between Morocco and Spain, a guarantee of stability in the region. The diplomat did not fail to cite the joint organization of the 2030 World Cup by Morocco, Spain and Portugal as proof of this active cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
Morocco and Spain maintain historical relations and share common strategic interests, recalled the Moroccan diplomat, specifying that "the ties between the two Kingdoms are based on a fruitful cooperation and a permanent dialogue, founded on mutual respect and an ambitious roadmap". For his part, the head of the Hispanic Studies Department at the University Mohammed 1st of Nador, Hassan Arabi, stressed the importance of maintaining strong ties with the Moroccan community established in Spain in order to strengthen cultural and human exchanges between the two countries.
