Morocco’s Southern Hotels Woo Domestic Tourists with Post-COVID Deals

After more than 3 months of suspension of their activities, tourism professionals in the province of Sidi Ifni are gearing up for the resumption. Pending the reopening of borders to foreigners, they are offering tempting offers to attract Moroccan tourists in order to save the current tourist season.
The Moroccan tourism sector is adapting to the post-Covid realities. Professionals in the sector, aware of the crisis and its impact on their business, are working to captivate the attention of national tourists, while ensuring compliance with health measures, notes the MAP.
The majority of hotel complexes are paying attention by adapting their offers by putting in place all the necessary precautions against Covid-19, in particular respecting physical distancing, disinfecting rooms and catering and entertainment areas and providing hydroalcoholic gel.
According to the same media, several managers are already recording the first bookings for the month of August. The first to announce themselves are the clientele who are used to spending their holidays in these paradisiacal regions, which are full of tourist potential (the beauty of its beaches and landscapes).
This observation suggests a good summer season that could offset the losses recorded during the confinement period. According to Ahmed Bourma, manager of one of the hotel complexes, the management of the post-confinement period is "a bit complicated" due to the absence of foreigners who are the usual clientele of these places.
According to him, Moroccans, who usually represent 40 to 50% of the clients of these hotels during the months of July and August, will be the main clientele this summer due to the exceptional context created by the Covid-19 crisis. In addition to reductions in accommodation costs, exceptional offers for Moroccan families, negotiations are underway with the support of the Regional Council for the creation of an air link between Guelmim and the Canary Islands, assures the Regional Delegate of Tourism, Sidi Ahmed Raji Alaoui.
