Morocco’s Solar Projects Help Drive Growth at French Cable Maker Nexans
In results published on 22 October, Nexans cited major Moroccan solar projects among the factors supporting its growth. The French cable maker reported strong growth in its power grid business, driven by several international markets.

Growth of 14.8% in the third quarter: Nexans’ power grid division is accelerating sharply. Its standard sales reached 363.9 million euros, compared with 314.4 million euros a year earlier. This growth is calculated on a like-for-like basis, at constant exchange rates.
In its financial statement of 22 October, the group says this momentum is supported in particular by major solar projects in South America, as well as in Turkey and Morocco. The Kingdom thus features in the results of an industrial group that generated nearly five billion euros in sales over nine months.
Europe remains the main driver of this growth, thanks to increased industrial capacity. In North America, orders from grid operators and demand from data centers are also supporting business. Morocco’s contribution is identified as one of these growth drivers, although no separate figure has been published.
In Morocco, six plants and local production
Among Nexans’ projects in Morocco is Noor Atlas. In April, specialist outlet pv magazine France reported that the group and its partners had been awarded contracts to supply cables and electrical solutions for six photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of 305 megawatts.
The plants are planned for Aïn Béni Mathar, Boudnib, Bouanane, Enjil, Tata and Tan-Tan. The equipment is intended to collect the electricity generated and deliver it to the grid. According to Nexans, these solutions are designed and manufactured locally.
The work builds on Nexans’ industrial presence in the Kingdom. In December 2023, the company had announced a 100 million euro investment in Morocco to expand medium-voltage cable production.
In the first nine months of 2026, its power grid division recorded standard sales of 1.066 billion euros, up 8.1% organically. The first Noor Atlas plants are scheduled to begin operating from July 2027.
