Morocco’s Socialist Party Challenges Vaccine Pass Mandate in Court
Friday 22 October 2021, by
The government’s decision to impose the vaccine pass in administrations and certain public places continues to elicit reactions. After internet users, it is the turn of certain political circles such as Nabila Mounib of the Unified Socialist Party (PSU), who is calling on the government to abandon this decision at the risk of being taken to court.
The PSU has decided to take legal action to request the cancellation of the decision to impose the vaccine pass. The party held an extraordinary meeting at the end of which, Nabila Mounib declared that the government’s decision is "unconstitutional". According to the party, imposing the vaccine pass amounts to forcing all Moroccans to get vaccinated, which, according to them, constitutes an infringement of the principles of human rights, reports Assabah.
The PSU explains that the implementation of the vaccine pass risks creating distortions and discrimination for certain civil servants and workers, who will no longer have the right to access their workplace. It calls on the government to review the decision for peace and cohesion. Meanwhile, the security forces have been called upon to take all necessary measures to ensure that no citizen accesses the public places concerned by the decision without a vaccine pass.
Several ministries have also sent a circular to their central and external services for the strict observance of this decision by civil servants and users of the public service.
