Morocco’s Social Security Fund Flooded with 40,000 Coronavirus Job Loss Claims in 24 Hours

Barely had the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) launched the service for receiving applications for compensation for work stoppage due to the Coronavirus pandemic, when its platform was inundated with requests. Already 40,000 employees registered in just 24 hours.
In detail, the CNSS indicates that there are 9,262 requests from companies whose managers have counted 41,213 declared employees, among those who have lost their jobs due to the crisis currently facing the country. It has committed to paying a net monthly compensation during the period from March 15 to June 30 next. The amount of the compensation is 1,000 DH for the month of March, and 2,000 DH for the months of April, May and June next.
According to the CNSS, "this compensation only concerns employees who have temporarily stopped working due to the current health crisis, and who have been declared by their employers for the month of February last." The companies concerned must provide justifications showing that the difficulties encountered are related to the crisis.
As for the CNSS, it guarantees its insured the right to "benefit from the social package including family allowances and compulsory health insurance (AMO) according to the regulatory requirements in force". The compensation relating to the temporary suspension of work will be paid at the end of each month, and for the entire duration of the crisis. The same applies to family allowances and AMO during this same period.
