Morocco’s Soccer Success Rivals Global Powers Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

After a historic 2022 World Cup, Morocco is approaching the qualifiers for the 2026 edition with ambition and impressive statistics. The team led by Walid Regragui is positioning itself as a serious contender for one of the top qualifying spots in the African zone.
The Atlas Lions, with 49 wins in 68 matches, have a better record than many traditional football powers. This performance places Morocco ahead of teams like the United States (45 wins in 76 matches), Spain (44 wins in 66 matches), Japan, Portugal or England in the ranking of recent victories.
The exceptional run at the Qatar World Cup, where Morocco became the first African and Arab nation to reach the semi-finals, has propelled the team to the forefront of the stage. The victories against favorites such as Spain and Portugal have made an impression.
Coach Walid Regragui is now focused on the upcoming challenges. The matches against Tanzania and Niger, counting towards the World Cup qualifiers, are very important. He stated it clearly in a press conference: his priority is to prepare these matches and quickly secure qualification.
The governing body of world football, FIFA, recognizes Morocco’s potential and considers it a credible candidate for a quick qualification, noting in particular the consistency of the national coach.
