Morocco Soccer Federation Accused of Pressuring Ihattaren During Father’s Mourning Period

If Mohammed Ihattaren has renounced to wear the Moroccan jersey, it would be due to the negative pressure of the officials of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, especially during the mourning period of his father.
The words of Mohammed Ihattaren were reported by the Dutch website, AD.nl, adding that the presence of the President of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaâ, at the funeral ceremony of his father was a way to influence the player’s decision.
Contrary to the Dutch federation, which respected Ihattaren’s privacy by giving him the necessary time for mourning and reflection, the FRMF sought to exploit this period to encourage him to wear the national colors, adds the same source.
Let us recall that the PSV winger, born in Utrecht 17 years ago, has finally decided to play for his native country, the Netherlands. At Eindhoven Airport, the player would have been treated as a "traitor" by a group of Dutch-Moroccans.
