Morocco Slashes Tourism Prices to Boost Domestic Travel Post-Lockdown

While waiting for the resumption of their activities, tourism professionals are offering preferential and attractive offers to domestic tourists, in order to mitigate the negative impact of the coronavirus on the sector.
Tourism professionals have adjusted their rates and adapted their prices to attract all budgets. "The prices offered are very affordable and suitable for all budgets. Professionals want to attract all budgets," says Zoubir Bouhout, director of the provincial tourism council of Ouarzazate, to Matin. According to him, several hotel establishments have already drawn up their pricing schedule which they will unveil after the end of the lockdown.
According to the director, the proposed rates range from 90 dirhams (for a one-star hotel) to 225 DH for a four-star hotel in double half-board. Guest houses, on the other hand, offer prices ranging from 90 dirhams for gites to 225 DH for first-class guest houses.
By setting preferential rates, hotel professionals in the South want to attract some of the clients who would opt for a seaside area like Agadir or El Jadida. "Professionals are aware that hotel establishments located in the far south, particularly in Ouarzazate, will be the most affected by the crisis, especially with the non-resumption of domestic flights. They are therefore trying to offer preferential and attractive offers to attract all types of clientele," explains Zoubir Bouhout.
