Morocco Slashes Prices on Over 100 Medications, Including Cancer and Heart Drugs

The Ministry of Health has revised the prices of more than 100 drugs downward. The ministerial order enshrining this reduction was published in the latest official bulletin of June 25, 2020.

Drugs for heart failure, leukemia, rheumatoid arthritis, fungal infections, long-term enzyme replacement therapy, treatment of psoriatic arthritis, cholesterol... are affected by this price reduction. The largest decrease concerns the drug Gazyva 1000mg/40ml solution for dilution for infusion, box of 1 vial of 40ml used to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Its price has dropped from 39,772 DH to 25,900 DH, a decrease of 13,872 DH.

The drug Fabrazyme 35 mg powder for solution for infusion, box of 1 vial of 20ml recommended for long-term enzyme replacement therapy in patients with a confirmed diagnosis of Fabry disease now costs 38,140 DH instead of 35,486 DH, a decrease of 2,654 DH.

Other drugs: Accupril 20mg, tablet box of 28 used in the treatment of high blood pressure and congestive heart failure now costs 70.10 DH instead of 103.50 DH; Afongis 150 mg, box of 4 capsules (55.10 DH instead of 59 DH); Derzol 150 mg box of 4 tablets (67.30 DH instead of 72 DH).
