Morocco Slashes Prices on 90 Medications, Including Cancer and Heart Drugs

Medication prices have been revised in Morocco. While the costs of several products have fallen, this is not the case for 7 drugs whose price has rather increased.

These new prices were made public by the Ministry of Health, via the Official Bulletin of June 28, 2021. This drop concerns in particular medicines for heart failure, leukemia, rheumatoid arthritis, fungal infections, long-term enzyme replacement therapy, treatment of psoriatic arthritis, cholesterol... It is the prices of some 90 medicines that have been revised downwards, some even by almost half.

This is the case, for example, of Oxalyplatine Mylan, used in the treatment of colon cancer, whose price has dropped from 2,206 Dirhams (DH) to 1,613 DH, and the box of 7 of Arixtra, an anticoagulant, which, from 666 DH, now costs 327 DH, following the new decision. The same goes for Broclar syrup, 200 ml bottle which goes from 31 to 30DH; Cicloviral 400 mg tablet, box of 25 which now costs 270 DH against 259DH in the past.

It is rather the opposite trend for 7 drugs whose prices have increased, such as Adrenaline Sothema1 mg/ml which goes from 190.00DH to 204.00; Dorzostill 2%, eye drops and solution which goes from 57.90 DH to 80.00; Largactil 100 mg film-coated tablet box of 30 which goes from 17.10 to 23.80DH.
