Morocco Slashes Fuel Prices as Global Oil Market Plummets Amid Coronavirus Crisis

Fuel prices at the pump will see a significant drop starting this Monday, March 16, due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic, and especially due to the sharp drop in crude oil prices on international markets.
In Morocco, the price of fuel at the pump will drop by nearly one dirham per liter, according to a source close to the association of petroleum product distributors.
Thus, regular diesel will decrease by one dirham per liter; premium diesel will see the same drop; 95 unleaded gasoline will also decrease by 1.07 dirhams per liter. As for 98 unleaded gasoline, it will see a drop of more than one dirham.
These decreases represent a price reduction ranging from 50 to 53.5 dirhams, on a full of fifty liters of fuel, representing a windfall for the motorists’ budget.
Moreover, the drop in oil prices will also benefit the state budget, since the energy bill weighs heavily on the balance of payments.
