Morocco Slashes Fuel Prices as Global Oil Costs Decline

Speaking to the press, Jamal Zrikem, president of the National Federation of Managers and Owners of Service Stations, confirmed the information by announcing that the price of gasoline will decrease by 1 DH per liter, while that of gasoline will fall between 1 DH and 1.50 DH per liter. According to the head of the federation, these foreseeable declines are due to the drop in oil prices on the international market.
This news, which should delight motorists in particular, is far from satisfying the users of these gas stations, currently confined to their homes to limit the spread of the pandemic, regrets President Zikrem. For the National Federation of Service Station Owners and Managers, fuel consumption is currently in free fall and has declined by at least 70% since confinement. Hence the collapse of fuel sales, he laments.
According to the International Energy Agency, global oil demand could fall by 20% this year due to the proliferation of confinement measures related to the coronavirus.
