Morocco Slams Spain’s Visa Policy as ’Discriminatory,’ Straining Diplomatic Ties

Morocco accuses Spain of humiliating and discriminating against its nationals in the issuance of visas. Relations between the two countries are tense again.
After normalizing their relations in 2022, Rabat and Madrid are once again at odds. The origin of this new tension is Spain’s visa policy towards Moroccans. The Moroccan authorities consider the treatment of Moroccan visa applicants to Spain to be humiliating, according to the newspaper Al Massae.
These have reported the many difficulties they encounter at the Spanish consular services in Morocco in obtaining the visa. Moroccan visa applicants to Spain say they do not understand why most of their applications are rejected without valid reason. According to them, this is a deliberate act of discrimination.
These Moroccans denounce this situation which causes them prejudice. According to them, the Spanish consular services in Morocco would be responsible, because even those who had obtained Spanish visas in the past are now facing the same difficulties.
