Morocco Signs Deal to Export Atlantic Gas to Europe via Maghreb Pipeline

The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines of Morocco (ONHYM) and the British company Chariot Oil & Gas have signed an agreement this week to transport the gas found off Larache to Europe via the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline (GME).
This agreement "will allow the gas produced on the Anchois gas field off Larache to be transported to various potential buyers via the GME," the British company said in a statement. Chariot announced in January the discovery of this well located in the Atlantic Ocean 38 kilometers from the city of Larache and 87 kilometers from the city of Kenitra (north of Rabat), recalls The Objective.
Algeria closed the GME linking it to Spain via Morocco at the end of October 2021, after breaking off diplomatic relations with the kingdom in August of the same year. Since last June, Morocco has been transporting gas via the GME in the opposite direction as part of an agreement with Spain.
