Morocco Shatters Tourism Expectations with 2.6 Million Extra Visitors in 2024

Tourism in Morocco is doing very well. Proof of this, the number of foreign tourists who visited the kingdom from January 2024 until November exceeds the official forecasts.
Morocco has attracted 2.6 million additional arrivals in just eleven months, exceeding the official forecasts. These had projected only 1 million additional arrivals for the entire year 2024. "This increase is driven by a strong increase in the number of foreign tourists, who have increased by 23%, or 1.5 million additional visitors, as well as a robust growth of 17% of Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), contributing to 1.1 million additional arrivals," reports Challenge, which does not rule out that Morocco will triple the initial target by December 31.
The number of tourists welcomed in November stands at nearly 1.3 million, an exceptional growth of 31%. "We are experiencing an unprecedented stage in the dynamic history of Moroccan tourism," rejoices Fatim-Zahra Ammor. In the eyes of the supervising minister, these unprecedented figures constitute "a major step towards the goal of positioning Morocco among the 15 largest tourist destinations in the world".
The government is supporting this momentum by deploying an ambitious recovery plan, accompanied by a new roadmap for the sector. This will modernize the tourism offer and intensify the promotion of new destinations beyond the historical centers such as Marrakech. These actions have the advantage of diversifying the offer to attract a wider audience and distribute tourist flows across the entire territory.
Morocco is thus working steadily but surely to achieve its 2030 ambition, which is to bring the total number of visitors to 26 million, a spectacular increase confirming its status as a rising destination in Africa and the world.
