Morocco Sets Tourism Record, Eyes 26 Million Visitors by 2030 World Cup

Morocco recorded 17.5 million arrivals in 2024 and aims for 26 million arrivals by 2030, where it will co-host the football World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, details the Moroccan tourism strategy.
"We see international competition as a stimulating challenge that pushes us to innovate and surpass ourselves. Today, we have a clear and operational roadmap, which combined with the unique potential of our country, is producing exceptional results," said Fatim-Zahra Ammor in an interview with Médias24. According to her explanations, this roadmap is based on the creation of solid tourism ecosystems in 12 regions, encompassing all essential aspects: strategic air connections, diversified accommodation capacity, innovative entertainment infrastructure and highly qualified human capital. "We have adopted this holistic approach, because we want to build the foundation for sustainable tourism growth, which will allow us to differentiate ourselves in an increasingly competitive environment. And the first results are there to prove it," explained the minister.
While Morocco was expecting to receive 17.5 million tourists in 2026, it achieved this objective last year. "Reaching our objectives two years ahead of schedule exceeds all our expectations and reveals the extraordinary dynamism of the Moroccan destination. And the momentum is accelerating. As evidenced by the record start of the year we are experiencing in January, a momentum that will certainly be amplified by the upcoming hosting of the 2025 CAN," is convinced Ammor, noting that this growing attractiveness is also reflected in the international recognition that Morocco enjoys.
