Morocco Sets Sights on AFCON Glory: Federation Chief Declares Victory "Non-Negotiable

Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Moroccan Football Federation, set a very clear goal this Thursday: victory in the next Africa Cup of Nations is a "non-negotiable" objective.
Speaking at a press conference in Salé, he acknowledged that the long wait for the continental title, which has eluded Morocco since 1976, "has almost become a complex in the history of Moroccan football." A situation that, according to him, now requires a collective effort.
To achieve this, he called for a general mobilization of all the driving forces of the country. "The objective of winning the next Africa Cup of Nations has become non-negotiable at all levels, and all components of Moroccan society - officials, coaches, players, media - must rally behind the national team," he insisted.
But such sporting ambition must be based on solid foundations. On the infrastructure side, the Federation President was just as direct and reassuring. He confirmed that the stadiums in Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir and Fez were already ready, and that the Moulay Abdallah Complex in Rabat would be operational as early as September, closely followed by the Tangier stadium.
These construction projects, modernized for the 2030 World Cup, are a "source of pride for the Kingdom," he added, emphasizing that the work was carried out with "100% Moroccan expertise."
Because the organization of this CAN is seen as much more than an end in itself. "This hosting will be a real test to affirm Morocco’s position as the host country for the 2030 World Cup," he explained, stressing the responsibility of the kingdom to represent Africa with dignity.
And to dispel any doubts about possible delays, Fouzi Lekjaa concluded with a concrete announcement, stating that two other stadiums in Rabat would even be delivered ahead of schedule, by the end of August next.
