Morocco Sets Ambitious Goal: 52% Renewable Energy in Power Mix by 2030

Reducing energy consumption by 20% by 2030 is the objective of the Moroccan plan for the development of renewable energies.
As part of the development of renewable energies and energy efficiency, Morocco has been involved in the energy transition process since 2009. In addition to reducing energy consumption by 20%, the national plan for the development of renewable energies also aims to exceed 52% of installed electrical power from renewable sources.
The Kingdom aims to optimize the electricity mix around reliable and competitive technological choices by reconciling the different technologies offered in the field of renewable energies.
To achieve this objective, Morocco is calling for the exploration of specific cooperation opportunities and the strengthening of North-South cooperation, particularly in the fields of clean energy technologies. The development of political and regulatory frameworks to encourage investment, increase energy efficiency and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals are also concerned, through the exploitation of centralized and decentralized clean energy solutions.
