Morocco Expands Global Partnerships in Renewable Energy Research and Development

The Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) is working to strengthen its cooperation in the field of renewable energies. In this sense, it has recently signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with respectively the Korean Institute of Energy Research (KIER) and the Indian electricity and gas producer NTPC.
The first memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on July 25, 2022 by Fatima Hamdouch, member of MASEN’s COMEX and Dr. Jong-Nam Kim, President of KIER in the presence of senior representatives of KOICA, according to a MASEN press release. It is particularly aimed at stimulating understanding in the field of RE research and development. It will also serve to promote innovative clean energy solutions in remote African regions.
The second MoU was signed by Rachid Bayed, Director of Operations at MASEN and Narinder Mohan Gupta, Managing Director and Director of International Development of NTPC in New Delhi on July 20, as part of the 17th edition of the "CII-Exim Bank India-Africa Growth Partnership Conclave". It is mainly aimed at strengthening capacities in the field of renewable energies, according to a MASEN press release.
Created in 2010, MASEN is responsible for leading renewable energies in Morocco. The Agency contributes, through its projects, to the national objective of reaching +52% of renewable energy in the Moroccan electricity mix by 2030.
