Morocco Set to Reopen Borders in July as COVID-19 Cases Stabilize

The epidemiological situation of covid-19 in Morocco is under control and stable, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health. Unless there is a last-minute turnaround, the kingdom should open its borders as early as mid-July, after the lifting of the state of health emergency, announced for July 10.
Morocco is moving towards deconfinement in view of the latest coronavirus figures. To date, the country has 12,052 confirmed cases, 8,740 recoveries, 221 deaths and 3,091 active cases.
While new infections are on the rise, the fatality rate is steadily declining. It is one of the lowest in the world. According to the Ministry of Health, the rebounds in new covid-19 cases would be justified by the acceleration of collective, active and early screening.
With this assurance from the health authority, Morocco could soon restart all socio-economic activities, some of which have been at a standstill for nearly 3 months. If the epidemiological situation is definitively under control, the European Union should reopen its borders to Morocco.
Consequently, its tourism activities would be relaunched, thanks to the influx of European tourists, who appreciate the Moroccan destination. Moreover, Moroccans could also travel freely and without fear to several European destinations.
