Morocco Set to Export Millions of Locally-Made Face Masks Globally

Morocco is positioning itself in the global race for masks. The surplus of mask production will be exported to the global market in the coming days. Domestic demand is fully met while foreign demand continues to grow.
The Kingdom meets the domestic demand for masks with a daily production of seven million masks. The product is necessary and useful during confinement and deconfinement. Morocco will now embark on exports in order to conquer the global market, informs the French newspaper, Le Monde. The quality of the masks produced entirely in Morocco is praised worldwide.
The newspaper reports that nineteen local textile factories have converted to mask production from non-woven material. An exploit facilitated by the Ministry of Industry and subsidies from the special emergency fund created by the State and through donations. The availability of masks has allowed the implementation of the mandatory wearing of masks, starting from April 7 in Morocco.
Thirty-four companies have started manufacturing washable fabric masks without subsidies, some of which are intended for export as Morocco is generating a surplus of mask production. The surplus allows Morocco to enter the global race for masks. The Minister of Industry has indicated that five of the 34 companies are already exporting half of their production to Europe. Five others will be authorized to do so in the coming days. Morocco has serious ambitions to conquer the global market.
