Morocco Set to Approve Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine, Boosting Immunization Efforts

A new boost for the vaccination campaign in Morocco. The health authorities are about to authorize the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, of which nearly 1.8 million units are expected to be delivered very soon.
Pfizer BioNTech could be the fifth anti-Covid-19 vaccine authorized in Morocco. The authorization for its emergency use is being studied by the national advisory commission for the authorization of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine and the Directorate of Medicines and Pharmacy at the Ministry of Health. They have been holding a session since Wednesday, which focuses on the manufacturing standards, safety, quality and efficacy of the vaccine, the results of preclinical and clinical trials from the first to the fourth phase, as well as the international recognition of this vaccine.
With the good results known of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine internationally, the authorization should come soon, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. This authorization will allow Morocco to receive a batch of 1.2 million doses of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine this week. This will also further accelerate the vaccination campaign, which has taken on a new dimension since the Royal Armed Forces were called in to speed up the injections.
Before the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine, Morocco was using Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Janssen and Sputnik-V. Morocco received a new order of one million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. And as part of the Covax program, Morocco received a donation of 302,004 doses of the Janssen vaccine, produced by Johnson & Johnson, on Saturday, July 24, 2021, and should receive 650,000 new doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health, the number of people who have received the first dose of the vaccine stands at 14,809,114, and 10,733,482 people have already received the second dose of the vaccine.
