Morocco Set to Appoint Vahid Halilhodžić as National Team Coach

After the departure of Hervé Renard to Saudi Arabia, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has set its sights on Bosnian Vahid Halilhodžić. Fouzi Lekjaâ seems to have paved the way for the imminent signing of the contract, which should last two years.
At 67 years old, the former FC Nantes coach will be making a return to Morocco, after 21 years of absence, this time at the helm of the Atlas Lions. He has just terminated his contract with the French club, where he was earning a salary of 200,000 euros.
Between Laurent Blanc and Vahid Halilhodžić, the president of the FRMF seems to have a weakness for the personality of the latter. Now that the choice has been made, the negotiations continue between the two parties on the remuneration and the composition of the technical staff.
The FRMF would have proposed a salary of 100,000 euros, well below the amount received by the man at Nantes. According to the magazine L’Équipe, citing a source, "they should agree around 1.5M € per year, excluding bonuses and benefits".
As for the technical staff, the Bosnian prefers to keep loyal faces, in particular, Cyril Moine, who had accompanied him during his stints at Rennes (2002-2003), Algeria (2011-2014) and Japan (2015-2018).
