Morocco Sentences ISIS Recruiters to 12 Years for Terrorism Charges

Sentences of up to 12 years in prison were handed down by the Salé court in cases related to terrorism.
Among them, two defendants are from Ouled Taima, near Agadir. The investigations revealed that the two defendants had pledged allegiance to the former leader of the terrorist organization, Abu Bakr El Baghdadi. They also praised the terrorist crime of Imlil which cost the lives of two Scandinavian tourists.
According to the daily Al Akhbar, the thorough investigation revealed that the two defendants expressed their deep hatred of the institutions by describing the State as despotic. Worse, the defendants often expressed their desire to carry out attacks inside the kingdom under the banner of the terrorist organization in order to establish the caliphate there.
According to the same media, the main defendant in this case was sentenced to eight years in prison. He is notably accused of creating a discussion group on WhatsApp where he disseminated videos calling for jihad and praised the terrorist organization.
With the help of the application, the defendant proceeded to recruit fighters for the Islamic State and praised the terrorist organization by publishing audio and video recordings of the barbaric acts committed by the terrorists around the world, particularly in Syria and Iraq.
In addition, another individual, native of Fez, was also sentenced to 4 years in prison for the same charges.
