Morocco Sends Emergency COVID-19 Aid to Tunisia Amid Surge in Cases

King Mohammed VI has given instructions for the sending of emergency medical aid to Tunisia, which is currently overwhelmed by the health crisis related to Covid-19.
Following the worsening of the epidemiological situation in Tunisia, due to a sharp increase in Covid-19 contaminations and deaths, the sovereign has been pleased to give his very high instructions for the sending of emergency medical aid to this brotherly Maghreb country, indicates a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
The medical aid ordered by King Mohammed VI will consist of two complete and autonomous intensive care units, with a total capacity of 100 beds, 100 ventilators and two oxygen generators with a capacity of 33 m³/hour each, specifies the same source. The Royal Air Force planes will ensure the transport of the aid.
This decision by the Moroccan sovereign is part of the framework of the ties of active solidarity between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Tunisia, as well as the authentic brotherhood that unites the two brotherly peoples.
Tunisia is overwhelmed by the explosion of Covid-19 cases. In total, "more than 100 deaths per day" are recorded. Faced with the situation, the country is calling for international aid. France will place Tunisia on its red list from July 16. This list concerns countries where "active virus circulation is observed" and requires compelling reasons to travel there.
