Morocco Seizes and Destroys Imported Buitoni Pizzas Linked to E. coli Outbreak

Morocco has withdrawn from its market a batch of frozen pizzas of the Buitoni brand suspected of being the source of about fifty contaminations and two deaths in France.
These Fraich’Up frozen pizzas would contain the E.coli bacteria that caused two deaths in France. Morocco is one of the 23 countries that have received and marketed this product.
Alerted, the National Office of Sanitary Safety of Food Products (ONSSA) has multiplied the controls, since March 28, intercepting a batch of Buitoni brand pizza produced between June 2021 and March 28, 2022. This batch was seized and destroyed by the health authorities.
ONSSA has also strengthened its import control system at the border inspection posts for the pizzas concerned. Health investigations are continuing at the level of the sales outlets and the distribution channels concerned.
