Morocco Sees Uptick in COVID-19 Cases, Raising Concerns About Potential New Wave

For a few days now, Morocco has been facing a slight increase in Covid-19 cases. Should we fear a new wave that would call into question an easing of access conditions to the country?
The drop in the number of cases observed since the first week of March 2022 is now giving way to a slight increase. This is evidenced by the number of cases recorded during the week from Saturday, May 7 to Friday, May 13. In total, 474 cases were recorded compared to 244 the previous week (April 30-May 6), an increase of 94.26% (+230).
In a statement to Le360, Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, indicated that this increase in cases was expected. Should we rule out the possibility of a new wave? "We cannot talk about a new wave with the current figures. We will closely monitor the epidemiological indicators. Next week will bring more visibility. But I think we will be faced with a resurgence of Covid-19," fears the expert.
