Morocco Sees 5% Rise in Business Bankruptcies, Economic Challenges Persist

Business failures increased in 2019, with 8,439 bankruptcies, an increase of 5%. Euler Hermès is pessimistic for 2020.
The number of bankruptcies is up 5% (8,439) in 2019, and has multiplied by 2.4 in the space of ten years, reports L’Économiste. This situation is explained by the deterioration of the economic situation and unpaid bills.
The French credit insurance company Euler Hermès estimates that the same phenomenon could be observed in 2020. 90,000 companies could also close their doors. These failures negatively impact the trade, real estate and construction sectors. In 2019, 2,960 bankruptcies were recorded in trade and 1,800 in real estate.
In addition to the economic situation, there is the thorny problem of payment delays in the private sector. The sectors concerned are also going bankrupt. The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) has also signed a partnership with Inforisk to solve this problem, it is specified.
