Morocco Sees Nearly 200,000 Air Travelers in Week After Border Reopening

Some 195,547 passengers traveled through 1,857 flights to and from Morocco, during the week of June 15 to 21, said the National Airports Office (ONDA), which ranks the airports of the kingdom according to passenger flow, slightly down compared to 2019.
The figures revealed by ONDA confirm the hegemony of Casablanca-Mohammed V airport over the airport platforms of the kingdom. This airport structure has captured 84,100 passengers representing 43% of the overall passenger volume through 762 flights. It is followed by Marrakech-Menara airport which recorded 29,400 passengers on 296 flights, ahead of Tangier Ibn Battouta with more than 19,100 passengers and 190 flights.
Moroccan airports welcomed 126,966 passengers from countries on list A, or 98.5% of international arrivals, and only 1,844 passengers from list B, the statement notes, adding that the overall performance represents 43% of passenger traffic and 57% of flights received during the same period in 2019. Overflight traffic reached 2,100 aircraft movements during the same week. In terms of geographic area, Europe accounts for the largest international traffic with 86% with more than 168,500 passengers, followed by North America (9,300) passengers and Africa (8,400).
With 15 accredited airports, Morocco is at the top of African countries in terms of the number of accredited airports, followed by Egypt and South Africa with 9 accredited airports, ONDA boasts of an excellent level of reception.
