Morocco Sees 2.7 Million Protesters in Nearly 19,000 Demonstrations Over Two Years

In 2018 and 2019, 18,800 street demonstrations took place in various cities in Morocco and attracted more than 2.7 million citizens. These figures were provided by the Inter-Ministerial Delegate for Human Rights, Ahmed Chaouki Benyoub, at the meeting organized as part of the Open House Days of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in Tangier.
During this meeting, Chaouki Benyoub explained, according to article19.ma, that Morocco has adopted an approach based on the balance between maintaining public order and respecting human rights.
For the Inter-Ministerial Delegate, it is important to involve the security institution in institutional coordination and international mechanisms related to human rights.
The official did not fail to point out, during this meeting, that the security sector has been the subject of many efforts over the past four years with the aim of modernizing all its services.
