Morocco Seeks Crucial Win Against Tanzania in World Cup Qualifier

Morocco faces Tanzania on Tuesday at the Honneur stadium in Oujda, as part of the sixth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. A decisive match for the Atlas Lions who must win the three points to hope for qualification for the final phase of the competition.
In the event of a victory against Tanzania on Tuesday, Morocco would total 15 points in 5 matches and would get closer to qualification. But this would not be fully acquired, despite the considerable lead of the Atlas Lions over their group opponents. With 6 points each in 4 matches, Niger and Tanzania would still be in the running and could obtain the 12 points in the remaining four matches.
Furthermore, in the event of cancellation of the results of the Congolese team, currently suspended by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Morocco would lose the 3 points obtained after its large 6-0 victory against the Leopards, which would bring its total to 9 points in 3 matches and leave the competition open. In the event of a tie between the teams, the goal difference is taken into account and not the direct confrontations.
If the FIFA does not cancel the results of Congo, Morocco could secure its ticket for the 2026 World Cup final phase if it manages to win its next matches against Niger and Zambia in September. To recall, the team that finishes at the top of its group is directly qualified. The Walid Regragui team will cross swords with the Tanzanian team on Tuesday at the Honneur stadium in Oujda. Kick-off at 9:30 p.m.
