Morocco Seeks Chinese Investment to Boost Tourism Sector

The Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (SMIT) organized a webinar on February 4 on tourism investment between Morocco and China.
In her opening speech, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Moroccan Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and Social Economy, indicated that Morocco and China are developing economic and commercial relations, recalling the historical ties between the two countries, which have been strengthened since the official visit to China in 2016 of King Mohammed VI.
Several senior Chinese and Moroccan officials as well as key players in the Chinese tourism and hotel industry such as the China-Africa Development Fund (CAD), Fosun, the Beijing Yong Jie Investment Fund, participated in this webinar which was filled with presentations and discussions around tourism investment.
The Director General of the Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (SMIT), Imad Barrakad, declared on the occasion that "Morocco constitutes an excellent tourism investment platform for Chinese investors". He then stressed the various tourism investment opportunities to be seized in the kingdom, and more specifically in the southern regions.
This webinar confirms Morocco’s position not only as a safe tourist destination, but also and above all as a platform for international tourism and hotel investment and business.
