Morocco Seeks to Boost Investment from Expatriates in Key London Meeting

Promoting investments by Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) in Morocco was on the agenda of an important meeting in London, attended by Moroccan experts and officials.

Promoting dialogue with public and private authorities in order to promote MRE investment. This is the objective of the meeting organized in London on Friday as part of a series of conferences led by the Trophées Marocains du Monde (TMM) Foundation in the major capitals of host countries. Focused on the theme "MRE Investments: New Challenges, New Financing, Institutional Responses", the event was attended by the Consul General of Morocco in London, Mouaad Ibriz, advisors from the Westminster borough, members of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) and representatives of Moroccan banks in the United Kingdom, reports La MAP.

After recalling the royal high instructions of 2022, aimed at establishing effective communication channels with MREs, Ali Mahrez, representative of the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), assured that the agency is striving to provide information and advice to enable Moroccan expatriates to seize investment opportunities in their country of origin. For his part, Karim Amor, president of the 13th region of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), dedicated to MREs, stressed the involvement of the private sector in supporting Moroccans of the world wishing to invest in Morocco.

According to him, the employers’ organization is also ready to put in contact expatriates wishing to invest in the same sectors of activity or the same regions of the kingdom, in order to create a favorable business climate and facilitate adaptation to the market. "The banking sector is happy to accompany them in the realization and financing of their projects," assured for his part Mohammed Afrine, CEO of Bank of Africa EuroServices.
