Morocco Seeks Arab Support for 2030 World Cup Bid with Spain and Portugal

Morocco would have asked the political, financial and logistical support of the Gulf countries for its joint bid with Spain and Portugal for the 2030 World Cup.
King Mohammed VI is said to have sent letters to the Saudi Crown Prince, the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Emir of Qatar to seek their support in the context of Morocco’s joint bid with Spain and Portugal for the 2030 World Cup, reports i24news from sources close to the kingdom, adding that Kuwait, Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman would also have been approached.
Through this approach, Morocco is seeking to mobilize 5 to 7 billion US dollars to successfully organize this major global football event, specifies the Israeli media, explaining that this Moroccan initiative towards the Gulf countries comes after the withdrawal of Saudi Arabia’s candidacy from the joint file with Egypt and Greece, preferring to take the time to prepare for the 2034 World Cup.
In total, Morocco’s bid with Spain and Portugal remains the only one in the running against that of Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. The 2026 World Cup, meanwhile, will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The number of participating teams will increase from 32 to 48.
