Morocco Secures $6.5 Million in Outsourcing Investments, Creating 5,000 Jobs

Despite the crisis currently affecting the world, Morocco remains attractive in terms of foreign investment. Proof of this is the signing last week in Casablanca of four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) relating to investment projects in the outsourcing sector.
According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, these projects, which represent a total investment of more than 65 MDH, will create around 5,050 new jobs by 2026. For the official, this signing is proof that the outsourcing sector has developed rapidly in Morocco. These memoranda concern investment projects on several outsourcing sites, in Tangier, Fez, Rabat, Casablanca and Agadir. They will be carried by four international operators in the outsourcing sector.
It is NTT DATA MOROCCO, specialized in computer engineering services, a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone, which is committed under the MoU to create 1,000 jobs. There is PHONEO, a subsidiary of the FusionBPO group, specialized in offshore outsourcing in the field of Business process outsourcing (BPO), Front Office and Back Office, and which is committed to creating 2,000 jobs. As for the subsidiary of BELL CANADA which is a company specialized in customer relations, based in Fez, it is committed to creating 1,750 jobs, while EIDS Maroc, the Moroccan branch of EIDS, known in the field of commercial management and the provision of outsourcing services, is committed to creating 300 jobs.
"With these new investments, the sector confirms its attractiveness, which is due to the quality of its offer adapted to the needs of companies and the rise in high-tech technologies, making the Kingdom one of the best technological and technical destinations," supports the Minister of Industry and Trade.
For her part, the Minister of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, said that "the signing of these MoUs is timely to encourage the evolution of digital technology, which represents a key lever for socio-economic development in Morocco and an undeniable job provider".
In terms of outsourcing, Morocco is admired and ranks among the three best destinations in Africa, thanks to the existence of a qualified human resource, world-class activity parks, high telecom and internet connectivity and a set of support measures put in place by the government. This is what has allowed the sector to develop rapidly, becoming a provider of jobs for young people, with more than 130,000 people, for more than 10,000 jobs created each year.
Even if the sector generates around 14 MMDH in export turnover, and has shown itself to be "very resilient" during the pandemic, professionals remain convinced that it must be further developed so that Morocco reaches 10% of foreign direct investment (FDI) in this field. The Kingdom also aspires to train 50,000 experts in these professions by 2035.
