Morocco Secures $91 Million Investment for Four New Auto Parts Factories, Creating 8,300 Jobs

Morocco has just signed with two Japanese groups, Yazaki and Sumitomo, two memoranda of understanding for the creation of four factories in the automotive sector for a total investment of 912 million dirhams. These factories will generate 8,300 jobs.
Present in Morocco since 2000, the Yazaki group intends to expand its activities through the creation of three new factories in Tangier, Kenitra and Meknes, which will create 6,300 jobs. The total investment cost amounts to 462 million DH.
As for the Sumitomo group, which has been established in Morocco since 2001 through 3 subsidiaries, namely Sews MFZ, SEBN and Sews Cabind, it plans to create its 5th factory in Casablanca, in order to meet the needs of its FCA and CNH Global customers. With a total cost of 450 million dirhams, this new investment will generate 2,000 jobs.
For Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy, these new investments attest to the resilience of the Moroccan industrial sector and the confidence in the Moroccan production platform, whose quality, performance and diversity offer excellent growth prospects for global industrial leaders.
"Morocco is on its way to becoming the most competitive automotive hub in the world. We intend to continue on this momentum by improving the deep integration of our ecosystems and decarbonizing industrial production," he added.
