Morocco’s Secret Role in Israel’s Six-Day War Victory Revealed

Morocco played a key role in Israel’s victory in the Six-Day War that pitted the Jewish state against Egypt in June 1967. How did the kingdom help Tel Aviv?
55 years later, we remember the armed conflict that mainly opposed the armed forces of Israel and those of the United Arab Republic (today’s Egypt), supported by Syria and Iraq. Triggered by Israel in reaction to the movements of Egyptian troops and the blockade of the Strait of Tiran to Israeli ships by Cairo on May 23, 1967, this war took place from June 5 to 10, 1967. In six days, Israel defeated the three Arab armies.
Morocco is one of the countries that contributed to this victory. In 2016, the former head of Israeli military intelligence, Major General Shlomo Gazit, revealed that King Hassan II had provided top-secret recordings of discussions between Arab leaders before the war, reports militarywatchmagazine.com. These discussions concerned their preparation for the war against Israel. These recordings allowed the Jewish state to understand that the Arab states were ill-prepared for war.
On June 5, 1967, Israel launched a preventive strike, bombed Egyptian airfields and destroyed almost all of Egypt’s fighter jets.
