Morocco’s Salé Beach Closed as COVID-19 Cases Surge

The Salé beach has been closed since Friday, August 14 and until further notice. Faced with the increasing number of cases of contamination, the local authorities have decided to take action.
According to the report by 2M, several people went to the beach to relax and were confronted with the barriers placed by the local authorities.
Instead of a moment of relaxation, they were entitled to an awareness-raising session on compliance with preventive measures. They acknowledge that some residents have shown negligence and irresponsibility in driving up the infection rate. We deplore a hundred positive cases in 48 hours. They accept, as best they can, the closure of the beach, even though they would have liked to enjoy it.
Mohamed Belgadi is a civil society actor. He points out that no one expected such a surge in positive cases. "We did not expect there to be so many new cases of contamination in Salé. That’s why the beach has been cordoned off. The residents who frequent the beach come from all neighborhoods. Social distancing is not really respected."
