In Morocco, Russian diesel despite European sanctions

Morocco is among the largest importers of Russian diesel in August. This is revealed by data from negotiations and Refinitiv Eikon.
Russia’s maritime exports of diesel and gasoil reached around 3.85 million metric tons in August, up 2% from July, according to data from negotiations and Refinitiv Eikon reported by Reuters. The idle capacity of primary oil refining for the month of August is estimated at 3.1 million metric tons compared to 2.458 million metric tons in July, it is specified.
Turkey remains the top destination for diesel exports from Russian ports after the European embargo on Russian oil products came into effect on February 5, with 1.56 million metric tons in August, or 40% of the total monthly supply. It is followed by Brazil, which imported nearly 550,000 metric tons in August from the Baltic port of Primorsk, after 650,000 metric tons in July. Then come the African countries: Togo, Tunisia, Ghana, Morocco and Libya. These countries imported about 880,000 tons of Russian diesel last month.
Turkey has maintained its first place in the ranking of diesel export destinations from Russian ports in the first 14 days of August, with nearly 720,000 metric tons, or 42% of the total supply. It is followed by Brazil, which imported about 140,000 metric tons since the beginning of this month. Then come the African countries: Ghana, with 75,000 metric tons) and Morocco (68,000 metric tons). With 60,000 metric tons, Togo completes the top 5.
