Morocco’s Royal Gendarmerie Welcomes First Female Officers After Rigorous Training

Women officers are preparing to join the ranks of the royal gendarmerie. This is the very first promotion of student-officers from the Royal Military Academy of Meknes.
Over the past seven months, these women officers of the regiment have undergone academic training and have been confronted with field situations in order to strengthen their psychological skills in terms of leadership. The training also aims to improve their physical condition and strengthen their resilience capacity in crisis situations. At the end of their 4-year curriculum, they will be deployed in the field and will cover the various areas of intervention of the royal gendarmerie.
With the wind of openness that the Royal Armed Forces are experiencing, women will no longer be relegated to simple executive functions, within the health services or the social sector. They are now called upon to shake up the established norms within a very masculine army.
