Morocco Road Fatalities: 27 Killed in Urban Traffic Accidents Last Week

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has just published the report of traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas last week. A total of 27 people lost their lives.
27 deaths, 2,004 injured, including 76 seriously, in 1,492 traffic accidents. This is the picture of road accidents in urban areas during the week of July 22 to 28, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to the DGSN, the causes of traffic accidents are numerous and varied. These include driver inattention, failure to yield, speeding, failure to maintain a safe distance, pedestrian inattention, lane change without signaling, loss of control, unauthorized lane change, failure to stop, driving under the influence, driving in the left lane, failure to comply with traffic lights, improper overtaking and driving in the wrong direction.
The security services recorded 47,147 tickets and drew up 11,527 reports, as part of control and repression operations for offenses. These tickets and reports were submitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, adds the same source. As for the transactional fines, 35,620 were collected.
In addition, the impounding of 4,847 vehicles, the seizure of 6,556 documents and the withdrawal from circulation of 124 vehicles generated 7,093,300 dirhams, the DGSN concluded.
