Morocco to Revise Income Tax, Aiming to Boost Middle-Class Salaries

The Moroccan government, through its spokesman Mustapha Baitas, announced a revision of the Income Tax (IR) with the aim of increasing the income of employees and civil servants.
This reform, scheduled to be included in the Finance Bill for the 2025 fiscal year, will be discussed as early as 2024. Its objective is to improve purchasing power, particularly for the middle classes, and to extend the exemption threshold.
An official, speaking anonymously, told Hespress that the government is focusing on the middle class, with incomes between 4,500 and 30,000 dirhams. The planned revision could result in a salary increase of up to 500 dirhams.
The Delegate Minister in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, stressed the government’s commitment to dialogue with the unions on this issue before the end of 2023. The goal is to reach an agreement on the revision of the IR before March 2024, with a view to a gradual implementation in the following years.
