Morocco Restricts Travel to Turkey for Young Women Amid Immigration Concerns
Several Moroccan citizens were prevented from boarding the flight to Istanbul last Saturday, December 28. This was the decision of the authorities at Mohamed V Airport in Casablanca.
According to Rue20, the decision mainly concerned young women traveling alone for vacation to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s in Istanbul or to go shopping.
Suspected of leaving for Turkey for the purpose of illegal immigration to Europe, some young people were also apprehended. Some were able to get a refund for the ticket price.
According to rumors, the immoral behavior of some Moroccan women has tarnished Morocco’s image in Turkey, prompting the authorities to ban them from traveling there.
