Morocco Accommodates Over 1,000 Citizens Stranded in Istanbul Amid Travel Ban

After the suspension of air travel to curb the spread of the coronavirus, more than a thousand Moroccans found themselves stranded in Turkey. They were accommodated until March 23 in several hotels in the city of Istanbul.
In total, 479 rooms have been booked in 16 hotels in Istanbul to support the Moroccans stranded in Turkey and to ensure their accommodation and catering. To this end, a list was opened between March 16 and 23 to register the names of the beneficiaries, according to a source at the Moroccan Consulate General in Istanbul.
With a view to continuing to provide these services, within the limits of the available resources, it was decided to choose rooms for two people, and sometimes for three people.
The diplomatic representation also commends the behavior of Moroccans in Istanbul, who have shown a high sense of understanding and solidarity in these difficult circumstances.
